TOURNAMENT RULES

JAMBOREE - “The Definition”
U6 thru U10

A Jamboree is characterized by its emphasis on fun and lively competition, minimizing recognition of “winners”, “losers, “champions”, etc. A Jamboree ends with everyone feeling they have had a good day and a fun tournament.

Features of a Jamboree are:
·         All teams play an equal numbers of games. (As much as possible)
·         Every player must play one half of the game. (Unless injured).
·         Scores are not collected, nor are standings kept.
·         There are no team awards or individual recognitions. If deemed desirable, all participants may be given a memento of the Jamboree – such as a pin, patch, t-shirt, or ribbon.
·         Substitutions can be made at any time the ball is out of play, no matter whose possession it is.
·         For the purpose of reducing the risk of injury, NO SLIDE TACKLING ALLOWED.
·         SpVJSA rules for U6 through U10 will be used. A complete copy of these rules may be seen at the command post. Also, see the attached game matrix for the number of players rostered, number of players on the field, field size, goal size, game duration and ball size.
·               Additionally, the game format conforms to the USYSA’s modified laws for young players, which feature:
·         Smaller fields of play
·         Smaller goals
·         3 to 9 players
·         Two equal periods of play (20 – 25 minutes each), with a 5 minute halftime break.

·         Due to the fact that some teams may have more rostered players than the specified amount, a team may have more players providing there are no guest players on that team.
·         For these age groups, sometimes we will use portable goals. Goal size may differ slightly from this matrix.

ALL PLAYERS AT THE U6-U10 AGE LEVELS WILL RECEIVE A TOURNAMENT MOMENTO FOR THEIR PARTICIPATION.

COACHES: Teams in the above age groups will play in a Jamboree format. (Please See Jamboree Definition). It is important that you keep this in focus. The format is set up for plenty of playing time and fun. There is no emphasis on winners or losers. This might very well be these player’s first ever tournament! Please make it as enjoyable as possible for them. They are all Champions in our eyes. !!!
